Living on the Canadian Shield is so much more than rocks, water and trees. But, it is those things that inspire us, motivate us and nurture us. The west may have the mountains and the laid-back vibe; the Maritimes may have the cool culture and spectacular oceans, but for over 7 million Canadians life is all about living on the Canadian Shield. And what does living on the shield mean? It means boats, Muskoka chairs and jumping rocks; it means ice fishing, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. It’s about gathering with friends and a guitar around a bon-fire. It’s beers and BBQs and dock parties. It’s about diving in the lake in one season and skating on it in another. It’s kayaking and canoeing. It’s lightning storms and white-capped waves. It’s a soak in a hot tub after a day of snowmobiling. It’s sand, sunscreen and staring at a million stars in the night sky. Yes, the shield is so much more than rocks, water and trees; the Canadian Shield is about living life to the fullest and celebrating the glorious feeling of what it is to be truly Canadian. The Canadian Shield Collective celebrates life on the Shield.
